"All the world's a stage,
And the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts."
As You Like It, William Shakespeare
Drama is a huge part of life at Ashdown House. Every child in the school has the opportunity to take to the stage during the school year. Our productions are completely inclusive and all pupils are encouraged to take part whether they are extraverted or quite shy, they all have a role to play. Many children blossom in confidence through drama and thoroughly enjoy being part a creative team.
In their final year, the children put on a production a term with a play in November, our traditional courtroom drama 'The Mock Trial' in March and we send them off with an uplifting musical in the final days of the summer term to celebrate their time here with us.
The children also get a chance to learn about life behind the scenes, exploring lighting, costume, make-up and set design.
With productions from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to Twelfth Night and Oliver!, our children have the opportunity to get involved and try something new as a valued part of our vibrant school community.
